Abhyangam is the most common oil massages in Ayurveda. It is used as a therapy and is widely practised. It is performed on a specially designed wooden table. The oil applied is processed with various herbs based on the person’s doshic type. A lukewarm oil is applied after the body massage in different postures. After the procedure the person is directed to a herbal steam bath and also a hot shower. The duration of Abhyangam is about 45-60 minutes. Benefits include improved eyesight, complexion improvement, increased physical strength etc.
